Many students are facing a number of problems: stress, distraction, and lack of discipline undermine their academic engagement. Teachings from the Bhagavad Gita, therefore, including self-discipline, focus, duty (dharma), and action without attachment, have been believed to be helpful for students in obtaining better study habits and greater mental clarity. This research will determine how teachings relate to the academic motivational capability among postgraduate students.
Information was gathered using a structured Google Form questionnaire from 140 students. The tool consisted of demographic questions, pre-motivation items, Gita-related reflection questions, post-motivation items, and open-ended questions. The data has been analyzed using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, paired t-tests, regression modelling, and simple computational text analysis. Motivation scores were computed both before and after the exposure to Gita ideas to see the change, if any.
The results clearly indicated an improvement in students' academic motivation after reflecting on Gita teachings. The post-motivation scores were higher, while the correlation analysis indicated strong positive relationships between Gita reflection and discipline and long-term academic focus. Regression analysis further showed that pre-motivation levels and Gita-based reflections significantly predicted better academic motivation. Word cloud analysis of open-ended responses underlined frequently mentioned themes like discipline, focus, duty, and peace.
