Abstract:    Background: Psychological changes during pregnancy can affect the well-being of both the mother and the foetus. Improving knowledge regarding the management of these psychological effects is essential for promoting maternal mental health. Objectives: To assess the effectiveness of a Structured Teaching Programme on knowledge regarding the management of psychological effects of motherhood among primigravida women and to determine the association between pre-test knowledge Score and selected demographic variables. Methods: A quantitative pre-experimental one-group pre-test and post-test design was adopted among 60 primigravida women selected from Shrimad Rajchandra Hospital and Research Centre, Dharampur, Valsad District, using convenient sampling Technique. Data were collected using a structured knowledge questionnaire. Results: The mean knowledge score increased from 8.67 ± 2.01 in the pre-test to 16.05 ± 1.73 in the post-test. The calculated paired t-value (20.70) was significant at p < 0.05, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Structured Teaching Programme. Among the demographic variables, only the source of health information showed a significant association with pre-test knowledge. Conclusion: The Structured Teaching Programme was effective in improving knowledge regarding the management of psychological effects of motherhood among primigravida women. Educational interventions during antenatal care can enhance maternal mental health awareness and preparedness.
