Ancient Insights, Future Innovations: STEAM through the Indian Knowledge System

Abstract: There is a preponderant of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) with the Indian ethos is the base of the Indian education system. STEAM through the lens of Indian Knowledge System will be the sustainable future of education system. As all major disciplines are covered under the STEAM approach and with correlation with one to the other disciplines paving the stunning way to a strong interdisciplinary aspect in the education system. A Curriculum is the essential part of the education system on which the upcoming future is based upon. For the sustainable future of education system Indian knowledge regarding STEAM education will have significant role. Some ancient Indian concepts of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics are the Ancient Insights which must be imbibed in each level of the education. By the flowing of ancient knowledge of STEAM in curriculum will make the every individual responsible to make sustainable future. Some ancient Indian concepts of STEAM are value of pi, arithmetical computations, factorisation, science of air, seasonal changes and its impact on living beings, scientific significance of Yagya (अग्निहोत्र), Ayurveda as sustainability of drugs and other chemicals, planetary motions with conjunction and disjunction, making process of perfumes, pottery- glazing, ink making process, functioning and features of aircraft, computer science and so forth have been well applied since the ancient time period. This could be essential, as NEP-2020, NCFSE-2023 and in Higher Education also; STEAM in alignment with Indian Knowledge System is concentrated. This kind of ancient STEAM related concepts have the deep roots for the sustainable future. This will definitely make the progressive and unite country in the world.
