This is a conceptual paper which examines the possibility of Augmented Reality (AR) in creating inclusive education especially in Indian educational setting. It describes the theoretical background of inclusive pedagogy and AR technology, reviewing the international research and the national projects and programs to create the concept of introducing AR to the regular classrooms. Although India has witnessed some progressive policy initiatives in education, such as the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009, and the recently announced National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, systemic obstacles, such as infrastructural constraints, teacher preparedness, and attitudinal bottlenecks persist in inhibiting inclusive education.AR technology presents an opportunity as a potential solution since it is multisensory, interactive, and personalized learning, which can support the needs of different learners. The paper presents the correspondence of AR to the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and the capacity to promote cognitive engagement, accessibility, and motivation among students with special educational needs (SEN). It features real life case studies in India, which show how AR tools can be used to meet learning needs of children with autism, ADHD, visual impairments and children belonging to tribal and multilingual families.The paper ends with practical recommendations relating to the implementation of AR into national policy, the enhanced teacher training based on digital pedagogy, the stimulation of the localized content creation, and the fair access to the AR-enabled devices. It is also suggested how future research can be conducted to evaluate the long-term effect and scalability of AR in inclusive education.
