Compact spinning is an advanced method of spinning yarn that aims to address some of the limitations of traditional ring spinning, particularly concerning yarn quality and efficiency. In compact spinning, fibres are drafted, twisted, and wound onto a bobbin in a manner that minimizes fibre protrusion and hairiness, resulting in yarn with improved strength, evenness and smoothness. The key distinguishing feature of compact spinning is the use of a compacting device, typically situated after the drafting zone. This device compacts the drafted fibres before they are twisted, ensuring that they are held tightly together and aligned more uniformly. As a result, there is less fibre fly and protrusion, reducing the formation of yarn defect such as thick and thin places, neps and hairiness.
