Abstract
Adolescence is an important stage in human development, characterized by rapid physical, emotional and social changes. During this period young people began to experience new feelings, develop personal identities and face various challenges that require proper guidance and understandings. Sexuality is one among the challenges they face during this crucial period. In this context giving proper sexuality education became an essential aspect of the holistic development of the adolescence. It helps adolescents to understand the changes occurring in their bodies and enable them to adapt to their environment in a healthy and responsible manner. Sexuality education also supports young people in making informed decision regarding their sexual health and relationships. Role of parents on awareness of Sexuality education among adolescence is crucial. By creating a safe, open and healthy environment for discussion, parents can helps the individuals to understand their bodies, recognize personal boundaries and develop healthy and respectful interpersonal relationships.
The present study investigates Parental attitudes towards the inclusion of sexuality education in secondary school curriculum of Kerala. The study adopted quantitative descriptive research design. A sample of 201 parents of adolescence students from Kozhikode and Malappuram districts were selected for the study. Data were collected using Scale of Parental Attitude towards Sexuality Education. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The findings of the study indicate that the Parental attitudes towards the inclusion of sexuality education in secondary school curriculum of Kerala are moderately high. The study throws light into make collaborative efforts from schools and policy makers to design awareness programmes for both parents and students to ensure holistic development of individuals.
