The proposed system functions as a tool for collecting and compiling data on dental health, offering both professionals and patients a clear overview of clinic operations. Such insights can support better decision-making and drive improvements in dental health services.
The study was carried out in dental clinics across Hyderabad over a period of three months. Using purposive sampling, 50 dental surgeons from 23 clinics were selected. Primary data was obtained through direct observation and surveys, with a structured questionnaire designed to assess the need for AI-based Health Information Systems (HIS) in dental clinics. Secondary data was drawn from hospital records. The collected data was analyzed descriptively and presented using flowcharts, bar charts, and pie charts.
The findings highlight that HIS in multispecialty dental clinics has strong potential to enhance healthcare outcomes. However, some practitioners perceive technology as a hindrance to patient care. Since end users are not a homogeneous group and ranging from highly tech-savvy professionals to those less comfortable with digital tools, AI systems must be designed to ensure ease of use. They should be reliable, error-free, provide real-time access to critical information, offer high processing speed, and minimize system failures to gain wider acceptance.
