Abstract:  The marginalized population, more particularly the tribal women of Gadchiroli district in Maharashtra has witnessed multifaceted transformations in recent times. The tribal women of this region have to confront a number of issues that hinder their development and empowerment to a large extent. One of the primary obstacles has been the overriding influence of the caste system that has not only marginalized the tribal women but also posed considerable barriers to their progress, which undoubtedly has perpetuated inequalities in society thereby projecting broader societal injustice. Despite the introduction of various legislative initiatives steered towards eradication of caste prejudice its deeply entrenched persistence remains an enduring challenge. Another pertinent issue that continues to be an impediment to the nurturing and development of individual qualities and values is the existing gender discrimination that leads to the denial of equality and dignity of the tribal women. The gender prejudice deprives women of their basic rights making them subservient to domination and exploitation of their male counterparts in society. Considering these facets the study aims to delve into the analysis of historical background of these marginalized section as well as seeks to probe into the implications of globalization on the current socio-economic conditions of tribal women in Gadchiroli district. In its endeavor to assess the socio-economic transformation of the tribal women in the above-mentioned area the study makes an attempt to explore the offshoots of the changing nature of political and cultural dynamics that shape the socio-economic evolution of the tribal women. Through the application of mixed-method approach the study provides a comprehensive understanding of the social, economic and cultural transformations experienced by the tribal women in Gadchiroli district and outlines certain policy recommendations for inclusive and equitable development.
