Asthma is a common and significant chronic disease in children all over the world. Risk factors may be different in different geographical locations and no studies have been conducted with regard to this in this area. A Descriptive cross-sectional community based study was conducted among 300 children below 18years of age. The prevalence of symptoms, severity of asthma was assessed using pretested validated ISAAC questionnaire and a predesigned pretested semi-structured proforma was used to collect basic information and risk factors associated with asthma. The prevalence of asthma, symptoms among children was found to be 5%, and the main risk factors associated with asthma were location of kitchen inside the house i.e. (86.7%) followed by use of LPG as fuel for cooking (80%) and overcrowding (66.7%).
