Abstract:

World famous film director Satyajit Ray’s one-of-a-kind creation “Hirak Rajar Deshe” skillfully and flawlessly expressed the timeless bond between the oppressor and the oppressed. The gorgeous royal attire of the king and ministers in the royal court, as well as the humorous conversation of various characters make the movie appealing to the youngsters. However, he was skillfully exposed to the public the various techniques of exploitation and oppression of defenseless people. He protested against exploitation by demolishing the statue of the king and overthrowing the monarchy. He skillfully used the image of the ‘eye’ as a symbol of tyrannical royal gaze on the walls of the royal court and laboratory, the center of all these events. Therefore, for some sophisticated, intelligent individuals, the movie has been interpreted as a symbol of monarchy and dictatorship. Ultimately, it can be said that through this film, Ray has unfolded the language of the proletariat’s protest against the despotic ruler. The aims of writing this paper is to expose to the public how the tyrannical king corrupted the judicial system by pronouncing verdicts in his own interests and in his own favor.
