The present study investigates the extent, forms, and demographic variations of peer victimization among private high school students in Lunglei Town, Mizoram. A descriptive survey design was employed to collect data from 146 students (76 males and 70 females) of Classes IX and X using the Peer Victimization Scale developed by Bist and Gera. Statistical analysis through SPSS involved descriptive and inferential techniques such as mean, standard deviation, t-test, and ANOVA. Findings revealed that 77.4% of students experienced moderate to high levels of peer victimization, with verbal and relational types being the most prevalent. Gender differences were found to be insignificant, while Class IX students reported higher victimization compared to Class X students. ANOVA results indicated significant variations among the four forms of victimization, with verbal victimization emerging as the dominant type. The study concludes that peer victimization remains a moderately serious concern even in private schools, affecting students’ emotional well-being and classroom participation. It recommends preventive programs, teacher awareness workshops, and counseling interventions to ensure safe and supportive learning environments.
