ustainability is a global priority, yet many products fail to genuinely reflect the eco-friendly claims made about them. This paper explores the potential of bamboo fibers as a sustainable alternative in textile production. Bamboo is recognized as a highly sustainable raw material due to its rapid growth, versatility, and biodegradability. However, sustainability concerns arise during processing, particularly when chemical methods like the viscose process are used, diminishing bamboo's natural beneficial properties. Products manufactured from bamboo frequently carry labels such as 'eco-friendly,' 'biodegradable,' and 'antimicrobial,' which may not accurately reflect their true environmental impacts. Although bamboo textiles have not yet achieved their full market potential, ongoing advancements in cleaner production techniques present promising prospects. Given bamboo’s abundant availability, cost-effectiveness, and exceptional performance characteristics, further development of genuinely sustainable bamboo textiles appears both feasible and inevitable.
