The Students' approaches to learning, research, and project development have changed as a result of the quick adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) in the classroom. The adoption and effects of AI tools on project preparation among college students in Indian higher education institutions are investigated in this study. The goal is to comprehend how AI-driven programs like ChatGPT, Grammarly, Canva, Copilot, and others affect students' productivity, originality, and caliber of study when they are preparing projects. 250 undergraduate and graduate students from various fields participated in focused interviews and completed structured questionnaires as part of a mixed-method strategy to gather data. The results show that AI technologies improve information accessibility, cut down on time spent on monotonous chores, and greatly improve the quality of students' projects. But issues like moral dilemmas, over-reliance, and a lack of faculty direction continue to exist. According to the study's findings, including AI literacy into the education program can optimize advantages while reducing abuse. The findings offer insightful information to academic administrators, educators, and legislators who want to use AI to improve research and innovation outcomes in higher education.
