With a view to drawing out the best educational values, from the literature, studying the writing style and child’s learning, the researchers reviewed fours stories i.e. An Astrologer’s day, The Missing Mail, The Doctor’s Word and The Tiger’s Claw of Malgudi Days written by R K Narayan an Indian English writer. It was a content analysis type of study and the nature of the study was qualitative. The researchers selected a list of the three components to review and draw out the educational values i.e. values and character building, Views on Westernization and True Teacher. The paper brings a list of the values and a set of ethics which children need to keep in mind while getting education. These values would perhaps enable children to be an ideal citizen of the society. It also brings the quality values and the benchmarks which the teachers of the present era could instill in their career to be the True Teacher. The paper also presents the views of the education system of westernization which depicts the comparative picture of Indian and foreign education system.  This would surely help the teachers, students, stakeholders and policy makers to bring the need based changes to meet the desirous goals mentioned in the NEP 2020.  The paper traces the development of Narayan's fictional town, Malgudi, and illustrates how it reflects changes on the Indian sub-continent and how they impact on the Malgudi character. The themes of parental love, the conflict between orthodoxy and modernity, academic disillusionment, harmony in family relationships and Hindu astrology are examined through these stories to derive the educational values.
