Concrete remains the most widely used construction material in the world, but its reliance on natural resources and cement production plays a great role in the contribution of global carbon emissions. The need to solve these environmental issues has increased focus on the sustainable construction of concrete structures. This survey brings together current developments in Sustainable Concrete Construction Methods (SCCM), especially the use of various types of cementitious supplementary materials, recycled aggregates, industrial by-products and geopolymer binders as eco-friendly alternatives to conventional cement. The paper also analyzes the technical, economic and social obstacles that act as impediments to mass adoption and highlights the critical role of government, industries and research institutions in encouraging sustainable adoption by policy frameworks, incentives and innovation. There are also emerging trends like digital technologies, data-driven decision making and circular economy models that are seen as driving forces of an environmentally responsible construction. With the combination of these solutions, the concrete industry will be able to lessen its environmental footprint while at the same time ensuring the structural integrity, stability, and sustainability. Here, sustainability is perceived as meeting current needs without affecting the capacity of future generations to satisfy theirs, and the general goal is to create a balance between efficiency, community welfare, occupant comfort and environmental care.
